On August 3rd and 4th, nine RCRC Junior rowers accomplished what few -if any -other RCRC rowers have done - a row to Guntersville Dam and back! These Juniors rowed upstream to Guntersville dam, a distance of about 37k, portaged their eight man boat over the dam, and then rowed another 3k to Brown's Creek Marina and Yacht Club where they camped out overnight. The next day, bright and early, they loaded into the eight man boat again and headed back to the dam, portaged over the dam, and then rowed back the RCRC boat dock! Congratulations to these brave rowing pioneers and thanks to the Coach and to the parents that supported the adventure! Also a big thanks to Ginnny and Ernie at Brown's Creek Marina and Yacht Club for hosting the crew.
Former RCRC rowers gathered at the boathouse to catch up, renew old friendships, and row a little, too. Many of the alumni had not been back for several months and were surprised that the old boathouse had been torn down, a temporary boathouse erected, and preparations underway for construction of the new Community Boathouse. The fourteen RCRC alumni rowers enjoyed a mild day and a row to the head of Hobb's Island and back to the dock. Thanks to Jordan Leigh for coordinating this event!
RCRC is proud to host the Hot as Hades Regatta, a 900 meter sprint race for Masters, Open, and Collegiate rowers.
